James Welling: Glass House
Conversation between Sylvia Lavin and James Welling, essay by Noam M. Elcott. For this evocative series James Welling photographed the Philip Johnson Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut, from 2006 to 2009. Living in the house for periods of one month at a time, Welling's photographs offer a departure from typical views of the grounds. Holding a variety of filters in front of the digital lens, he created tinted veils and distortions, transforming the image at the moment of exposure.
